SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Product Manager to play a pivotal role in tracking and managing the development of AI solutions in select government priority sectors. This position requires extensive engagement with selected organizations, providing support in defining product vision, strategy, and roadmap, and ensuring that funded products meet expectations and contribute to the country's development objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional project management skills, technical acumen, and a deep understanding of the product development lifecycle.

Wadhwani AI is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical public health, agriculture, education, and urban development issues in underserved communities in the global south. We collaborate with governments, social sector organizations, academic and research institutions, and domain experts to identify real-world problems and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues to make a substantial positive impact.

We have over 30+ AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID and Google.org. With a team of over 200 professionals, our expertise encompasses AI/ML research and innovation, software engineering, domain knowledge, design and user research.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with selected organizations funded by MeitY to understand their AI solution development projects in government priority sectors.
  • Support organizations in defining and refining product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with government priorities and project objectives.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, tracking progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, designers, and domain experts, to drive product development efforts and resolve technical challenges.
  • Monitor fund expenditure, human resources allocation, and sprint success, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Track and analyze metrics related to product performance, user engagement, and impact, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of funded products, identifying risks and opportunities and implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure project success.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to MeitY and other stakeholders on the progress of funded projects, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future action.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in AI product development, continuously enhancing knowledge and skills to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project teams and across partner organizations, promoting a shared vision and commitment to success.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree / Project Management Certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project / product management, preferably in the technology sector, with a focus on AI or data-driven solutions. 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects or products, from conception to delivery, with a strong emphasis on product strategy and execution.
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, algorithms, and platforms, with experience in translating technical concepts into practical product solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working with government agencies or in public sector projects is highly desirable, with a solid understanding of government processes and priorities.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools, with experience in leading agile teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Hindi or other regional languages would be an advantage, facilitating communication with stakeholders across India.
